Hands-on education in PCI: advancing patient outcomes with cutting-edge imaging and physiology

Overview

The 3rd edition of the Image Guidance in PCI “iPCI hands-on meeting 2025” will take place onsite at the Hilton Hotel Rotterdam on November 20–21, 2025. Building on the success of previous editions, this year’s event is dedicated exclusively to hands-on learning.

Led by course director Dr. Joost Daemen (Thoraxcenter, Erasmus University Medical Center, Rotterdam), this edition of iPCI continues to optimize both theoretical and practical education to maximize patient outcomes. With an emphasis on intravascular imaging, iPCI 2025 offers an immersive, practical experience for 40 European physicians or fellows.

Attendees will rotate through small-group workshops, each led by international experts, covering key topics like plaque recognition, the use of OCT in ACS bifurcation, IVUS in LM and CTO and Calcium and lesion preparation.

Following the recent updates to the 2024 ESC Guidelines, this edition aims to provide in-depth, interactive training to meet the growing demand for expertise in coronary imaging. With real-world case reviews and procedural planning sessions, the event is designed to advance your skills and elevate patient care in PCI procedures.

Target audience: European interventional cardiologists or fellows (up to 40 attendees)

Learning objectives:

  • Gain hands-on experience with IVUS and OCT for accurate plaque characterization and PCI guidance.
  • Develop practical skills in imaging interpretation to better assess coronary lesions.
  • Gain expertise in step-by-step procedural planning using imaging and angiography tools.
  • Learn advanced techniques for handling complex lesions including CTOs, bifurcations, calcified lesions, and left main.
  • Deepen understanding of updated ESC Guidelines (2024) and their practical application in PCI procedures.
  • Learn how to optimize PCI outcomes through advanced imaging and angiography techniques.
  • Master angiography-based physiology, including QFR and FFR, for procedural planning and revascularization.

What iPCI 2025 offers:

  • A two-day, exclusive hands-on workshop for 40 European physicians or fellows.
  • Small-group rotations with international faculty covering key PCI imaging and physiology techniques.
  • Real-world case reviews preloaded on workstations for interactive learning.
  • Dedicated workshops for managing complex lesions (CTOs, bifurcations, calcified plaques, etc.).
  • Accommodation and logistics sponsored by Erasmus MC.

Note: this year’s event will be held entirely onsite, with no hybrid or virtual components.
